What Fixray does

Before you start

Fixray gives you guidance, not instructions. You decide what to do on your vehicle, and you are responsible for the work and for your own safety. Stop and get help from a qualified mechanic if anything looks unsafe.

Hazards are marked, never hidden. Fixray guides the work; it does not refuse it.

Your garage

Describe each car once: year, make, model and engine. Or point the camera at the VIN, and Fixray fills in what the manufacturer's record says.

Start a job

A job is one car and one problem, in your own words, with the tools you have. Before the first step, Fixray says plainly that its guidance is informational and the work is yours.

One step at a time

Fixray gives you one step, then waits for you to tap Done or I hit a problem. Nothing advances on a timer, and you can ask about anything in your own words.

When a step can hurt you

A step that involves lifting the car, fuel, high voltage or brakes arrives with a warning that cannot be dismissed, and with the equipment and training it needs. Fixray marks the danger; it never refuses the work.

The car's own manual

Where Fixray holds the manual for your exact car, every step says where it came from, and the page is one tap away. Check the manual explains a step from the manual's own passage, with its diagram. A step the manual didn't inform is marked General guidance.

It keeps your place

A repair that spans two evenings is one job with two sessions, and every job stays in your list until you're done with it. With no signal, what was said and your current step are still there to read.

OBD-II integration

Plug a reader into the car's diagnostic port, and Fixray will read the fault codes itself and start the job from them. It is not in the app yet: it is what comes next.
