What Fixray is
Fixray is an app that guides you through repairing your own car, one step at a time. This policy covers the app and this website. It says what each collects, why, who can see it, and how to have it deleted.
Fixray is based in Texas, United States.
What the app collects and why
The app keeps what it needs to guide a repair and to let you pick a job up again, on any phone:
- Your account: the email address or phone number you sign in with, and the details that keep you signed in.
- Your profile: your name, a contact email address or phone number if you add one, and whether you are a technician or an owner, which sets how much the assistant explains.
- Your vehicles: year, make, model and engine, and the VIN if you give one.
- Your jobs: the problem you describe, the tools you have on hand, and where each job stands.
- Your conversations with the assistant, including any photos you add to them, and the steps it gives you.
- Step reports: when you report a step as wrong or unsafe, your report and the step it is about.
- How the app is used and whether it crashed: which features are used and error reports. These never include what you wrote, your photos, your VIN or your problem.
Who can see it
You, in the app. No other user can see anything of yours.
Fixray's administrators can read your account, vehicles, jobs and conversations to support you and to review the safety of the guidance. Every time they do, the access is recorded. They can delete your data at your request, and they can never change what you or the assistant said.
Where it is kept and who processes it
Your data is kept in the United States by a cloud hosting provider. A few service providers each handle one part:
- The cloud hosting provider stores your account, vehicles, jobs, conversations and photos, and runs the app’s services.
- An AI model provider reads your conversation, with your first name, whether you are a technician or an owner, the vehicle, the problem and the tools you gave, to produce the assistant’s guidance.
- A public vehicle database turns a VIN into the vehicle’s details. Only the VIN is sent to it.
- An analytics and crash-reporting service counts how the app is used and collects its crash reports. This website’s visit counts, when you allow them, use Firebase Analytics.
- Our mail provider delivers the inquiries sent from this website to our inbox.
Deleting your data
You can delete a session, a job, a vehicle or your whole account in the app. Deleting removes the data from our running systems straight away, and it cannot be undone: a session takes its messages and photos with it, a job takes its sessions, a vehicle takes its jobs, and your account takes your profile, vehicles, jobs, conversations and photos.
Three things stay after a deletion. When you report a step as wrong or unsafe, a copy of your report and of that step is kept for safety review, linked to your account only by an identifier. Our record of each time an administrator looked at or changed data holds identifiers only. Usage counts and crash reports hold none of your content and are not tied to your account.
Backups we keep to recover from failures can still hold deleted data until they expire, which is at most 14 days.
To ask us to delete your data, or anything this website holds about you, write to info@fixray.ai and tell us the email address or phone number you sign in with.
What this website collects
This website has no sign-in and holds nothing from the app. It keeps what you choose to send, and a little to stop abuse:
- An inquiry: your name, your email address, who you are if you choose to say, and your message. We use them only to reply to you. We keep an inquiry until we delete it, when you ask or once it is no longer needed.
- A launch sign-up: your email address, used for one email when the app launches and for nothing else. Write to us to have it removed.
- Visit counts, only if you allow them: pages viewed, videos played and forms sent, counted with Firebase Analytics. Nothing you type is ever part of them. Until you allow it, the site sets no cookie and sends nothing to Firebase Analytics, and if your browser sends Global Privacy Control, that counts as no.
- To stop automated abuse, a count of recent submissions from each email address and each network address, kept as hashes, never as the addresses themselves.
